MTA Proposal Q Line Brooklyn

Carousels and film are part of the legacy of the Q line’s Ave J, M, U and Neck Road neighborhoods. The American carousel manufacturing industry was born and thrived here.  It also was home to the silent era’s famous motion picture studio, Vitagraph.

Primarily, this site is a staircase that leads to a platform.  Staircases are about movement. My proposal is based upon images that suggest movement.

Carousels and film represent movement as a round trip. Whether a film loop or a ride on a carousel, they both bring you full circle and are analogous to a subway commute.
